Packs and Walking Places North County

It seems this is a good place to mention a few good parks for just hanging out, socializing, and walking in North County San Diego. The following mentions are leashed activities.

Oceanside Strand Tyson Park

Oceanside strand starts about at the pier and ends heading south about at Pacific street. Dogs are not allowed on the beach, it is patrolled and they do not hesitate to write tickets.

However this is a very nice walk for human and doggies. There is grass at the park and poo bags along the path. Restrooms at the park and some shade. My dog Kushi liked coming down here, although Kushi needed her off leash time so this was just a breather for us.

Carlsbad Sea Wall

This is a very nice walking trail along the beach also for human and doggies. It is a little over a mile and a very busy trail. Dogs also are not allowed on the beach here. It is leashed and there are bags along the way if you forget. People do let their dogs run with out leashes but it is not advised.

Morning Pack

Every morning during the week in Oceanside at 4701 Mesa Dr at the Mottino YMCA south of the tennis courts by the restrooms a groups of people and their pooches get together for what we call the “morning pack”. This group has been getting together for years. Kushi befriended them on a walk one day and we were instantly welcomed to the pack.

There is never a dull moment and dogs and humans have become a pack. People come and go but there is a main core group. All are welcome, honestly the dogs are usually okay, the only drama has been human initiated and by people who do not stick around.

The people that can behave off leash take a chance and let the dogs run and play as there is a lot of grass, picnic tables and shade. Kushi loved it and they were her friends til the end. Police have came by and said to leash up or else but that passes. So technically it is leashed but….
